Newcomers Thunderbirds have qualified for the semi-final of the 2017 Sasol League National Championship currently underway in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
The Eastern Cape side drew 2-2 with hosts Coal City Wizards, who also managed to book their last four spot as the best runner up.
The other two places went to Bloemfontein Celtic, who finished top of Group C following a dominant display in their two matches. The defending champions beat Kanatla Ladies 3-1 on Day 3 to move to six points three ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns. Kanatla failed to win any of their matches.
Top spot in Group A went to 2014 champions Cape Town Roses, who demolished De'Scorpion of North West 6-0.
The win for Roses pushed debutants Sunflower into second place and they still had a chance to make the top four, but the draw between Thunderbirds and Wizards saw them lose out on goal difference, despite finishing second in their group.
RC Mills of Northern Cape finished in 9th position.
Day 4 will see Kanatla and other newcomers, De'Scorpion battle it out for the seventh and eight spot (09h00), while 2015 winners Mamelodi Sundowns will be in action against Sunflower at 115.
The first semi-final (13h30) will see Roses going toe to toe with the home team, Coal City Wizards, while Thunderbirds will have a tough day at the office against the defending champions at 15h45.
The final will be played on Saturday, 9 December at 15h00.
The winner will walk away with 200-thousand, with the runners up pocketing half of that. Third place will bank 60-thousand, and fourth place will get 40-thousand rand. Fifth and sixth place will be given 30-thousand and 25-thousand rand respectively, while seventh and eighth are set to leave with 20-thousand and 15-thousand respectively.
