Iron and strong man competition: Kimberley

The third annual Iron and Strongman competition was held at the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) on Wednesday, 11 October 2017. The event was a joint effort and had participants from the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), South African Police Service Men for Change (SAPS), the DCS and correctional service inmates. The day was packed with entertainment and physical fitness. Team-mates cheered on participants where truly only strength and endurance was at the order of the day.

The Iron man participants showed much stamina with weight-runs and boat rows of up to 2km each, while the Strongman competition needed much strategy and physical strength with tractor-tyre flips and octopus challenges, etc. Trophies and several awesome gifts were handed over to first and second-prize winners of both the competitions. Hundreds of inmates also had a day of education, entertainment and mind-blowing fun.
