Taking into account the socio-historical background of Phillipstown and relating to August 9 and women's struggle heritage, the activity is directed towards paying tribute to those whose struggles laid the foundations for women's rights and freedoms today and to inspire action to further transform gender relations and advance efforts to ensure gender equality and women's empowerment in South Africa.
Women have historically help build resilient communities and the event to is to honour, entertain and celebrate the women of Phillipstown as pillars of strength in their community.
The outreach programme will start off with the handing over of dignity packs to the female learners of Phillipstown High School , whereafter site visits will be taken to the Phillipstown Library and Sport Fields to determine the state of readiness and the general state of the facilities respectively.
The MEC will be ending off the day with an interaction and engagement with the older women of Phillipstown. There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews. Full schedule of events included below.
