Police Minister to lead multi-disciplinary imbizo to engage with the community of umzumbe and surrounding areas as part of intensifying rural safety
The Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele will on Friday, 28 February 2020 host a multi-disciplinary community engagement (imbizo) with the residents of Umzumbe as part of the rural safety programme, following concerns raised in relation to stock-theft, sexual offences, school safety and other policing issues.
This ministerial imbizo is also in line with the South African Police Service's broader strategy of fighting crime through enhancing relations between the community and the police.
The proceedings will kick-off with a visit to Umthwalume High School where Minister Cele will hand over IT equipment and address the learners.
