Minister in the Presidency, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will host the Presidential Infrastructure Champion Initiative
Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will Chair the Presidential Infrastructure Champion Initiative (PICI), hosted by South Africa in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development Agency (NEPAD).
The initiative was established during the 23rd Heads of State and Government meeting in Uganda in 2018 in order to bring visibility, co-ordinate resources mobilisation and to speed up implementation of cross-border infrastructure projects.
The initiative is currently overseeing ten(10) infrastructure projects, championed by nine Heads of State and Government. These projects cover the Transport, Energy, ICT and Trans-border water.
The meeting will be chaired by the Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning Monitoring and Evaluation, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.
The purpose of the meeting is to receive reports from infrastructure champions and to prepare for the AU Heads of State and Government meeting, scheduled for the 10 -11 February 2019 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
