POLOKWANE - The South African Police Service in Limpopo are investigating two separate incidents of rape that occurred in the Tzaneen Cluster this weekend.
It is alleged that in the Letsitele Policing area outside Tzaneen, a woman aged 34 was praying inside a church in the early hours of Saturday, 2018-04-13 when an unknown man with covered face attacked her with a sharp object. The suspect dragged the woman outside the church to a nearby village of Nwamitoa, tied her and raped her. He then fled the scene with the victim's cellphone.
Meanwhile in the Bolobedu Policing area, Police arrested two suspects for rape, allegedly after two women aged 18 and 21 were raped at gunpoint on Friday night, 2019-04-12.
It is alleged that the victims came across the suspects at Shawela cross, one suspect fired a shot towards their direction, threatening the victims. The duo then dragged the two women into the nearby bushes, where they both raped them and fled the scene.
After the ordeal, the two victims managed to run to the nearby village for assistance. Community members responded in large numbers and hunted down the rapists until they caught them. Police were notified and they swiftly responded.The two suspects aged 21 and 23 were then arrested. One firearm, magazine, ammunition and two cell phones were recovered.
