The Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements will tomorrow (Tuesday, 5 September) receive a progress report on the Property Practitioners Bill, as well as the Home Loans and Mortgage Disclosure Amendment Bill. The meeting will take place at Committee Room V475, Fourth Floor, Old Assembly Building, from 09h30.
This proposed piece of legislation for property practitioners is intended to repeal the Estate Agency Affairs Act 112 of 1976. The Bill intends, among other things, to provide for the regulation of property practitioners, provide for the continuation of the Estate Agency Affairs Board as the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority.
Meanwhile, the Home Loans and Mortgage Disclosure Amendment Bill seeks to amend the Home Loan and Mortgage Disclosure Act of 2000, so as to substitute and insert certain definitions, to extend the powers of the Office of Disclosure to investigate public complaints on financial institutions relating to home loans, among other things. The Committee will also be briefed on the Department of Human Settlements’ first quarter report.
