NELSPRUIT � The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General MondliZuma has praised the integrated forces involved in the execution of Operation Fiela II since its inception. All the forces and departments concerned have shown enthusiasm and eagerness to make Mpumalanga a safe province.
This collaboration has yielded positive results as a number of arrests have been carried out and illegal items confiscated in the past two weeks. Between 25 June and 09 July 2018, a total of 385 people were brought to book for different violations, ranging from drug related crimes, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm as well as undocumented persons.
An additional 23 unlawful firearms, ammunition, dagga and liquor were confiscated. Two vehicles, one used in the commission of crime and the other robbed from the owner, were also recovered.
All the suspects have already appeared at the different Magistrates' Courts in the province.
We will continue to stamp the authority of the state by creating a safe and secure crime free environment that is conducive to social and economic stability, supporting a better life for all, by providing a patriotic as well as selfless service to the community, said General Zuma.
