Update: Stolen infant from Modjadjiskloof

Following an intensive search operation since yesterday by the police in Modjadjiskloof outside Tzaneen for a missing baby, the situation took an unexpected turn today when the baby was safely returned this morning around 06:00.

According to the police investigations the five month old infant was brought to Mokwakwaila Police station outside Tzaneen by the mother of the alleged 24-year-old baby snatcher.

The 52-year-old woman was allegedly at home in Mohlommeng Village in the Bolubedu area when her daughter came carrying an unknown baby and when she questioned her she admitted she stole the baby from a house in Madumeleng village.

While the police investigations continue a manhunt has been launched for the suspect and anyone with information which can assist with the arrest is requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or contact the nearest police station.
